About

The Embro Thistle Singers or ETS is a group of community members who joined together in February of 2010 to have fun with choral music.  The Embro area is well known for having very talented people and we have added to the Embro talent with people from Woodstock, Ingersoll, Thamesford, Strathroy, London and all sorts of spots in between.

Our goal is to make a great choral sound by learning and working together.  We sing from classics to pop keeping our goal of having FUN while being of service to our communities!!!

We would love to have you join us.  The requirement is that you really love to sing.  Reading music is an asset but not a necessity.  Try us out one Sunday evening at Knox United Church in Embro.  Check our schedule for the next practices and singing engagements.

Our Director
Kitty Babcock has been involved in music and musical endeavors all her life.  Her passion is directing.  During her 25 years working with young singers she was involved in many music festivals with many top awards.  Her choir won the Most Outstanding Choral Group award at the Kiwanis Festival in 1986 it was doubly rewarding as it was a memorial award in honour of very special colleague.
Kitty also greatly enjoys musical theatre having been Annie in Annie Get Your Gun, the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, and Meg in Brigadoon.  Her directing has included Kiss Me Kate, Sound Of Music, Peter Pan, Cinderella, and others.
Being asked to direct the Embro Thistle Singers was an honour, Kitty says.  This group has been and continues to be an inspiration and a joy.  More fun, more music, more service.  Yes!

Our Accompanist
Kristy VanKooten - Bossence is a musician extraordinaire.  She and Kitty have been working together as a team since Kristy was in grade 9 at the high school across the street from the public school where Kitty was the music teacher.  Kristy showed a natural ability to accompany and that has only been augmented over the years.
Kristy is proficient at the piano, organ and violin as well as vocally.  She has her music degree from University of Western Ontario.
Kristy and Kitty work as a team helping the singers to be the best they can be but be assured, Kitty stays away from the piano.  Kristy is the multi-talented one in this duo.
